Landscape Architecture and Planning
Master programme at Wageningen University

The two-year Master Landscape Architecture and Planning programme stimulates you to reach the top in the field of spatial planning, landscape architecture and landscape research. The study involves the research, planning and design of landscape to create and maintain places to be functional, meaningful, sustainable and beautiful. It addresses such questions as:

What is the impact of social developments on the physical world around me?
Why does it change the way it does?
How do I shape a functional and yet beautiful landscape?

The study focuses primarily on the rural-urban metropolitan landscape of the Netherlands and Western Europe in its global context of cultural, ecological, technological, economic and political transformations. This multifaceted programme seeks students fascinated and motivated by these questions. The programme won’t teach you ‘how to do it’, it rather encourages you to reflect critically on why you do it, and by doing so, to find your own way in the field of spatial planning, landscape architecture and landscape research.

Programme outline

The Landscape Architecture and Planning programme consists of courses, an internship and a research thesis. You have a choice of three specialisations to further tailor the programme to meet your personal interests. These are Landscape Architecture, Socio-Spatial Analysis, and Spatial Planning.
